Group classes

Yeshe did not grow up in Spain or come from a Flamenco family. As a Flamenco teacher this is an advantage because he knows what is needed to learn this art from the beginning as an adult. Through formal training in Classical, Jazz and Flamenco and years of experience teaching, Yeshe articulates the essential aspects of Flamenco that remain mysterious with many Spanish teachers.

Guitar: Soleá Baile Accompaniment (Intermediate)

April 8 - June 17

Tuesdays 6:30pm - 7:30pm PST (In-person and Zoom)

In this class we will learn the elements of accompanying Soleá for baile that make it so different from Soleá for cante or guitar. At this much slower tempo for baile (usually between 40-60 bpm), the way that we play compás, accompany singing and the falsetas that we play differ so much from playing for cante and/or solo guitar, that it is as though you are learning a new palo of flamenco. We will learn an intro, salida and letra accompaniment, llamada/remate and a falseta.

Singing: Tangos por Fiesta (All Levels)

April 8 - June 17

Tuesdays 7:40pm - 8:40pm PST (In-person and Zoom)

Tangos is a fun flamenco style that is in 4 or 8 count and is often sung in party or fiesta settings. Tangos is also sung at the end of a baile por Tientos and Tarantos. We will learn palmas, a few letras and coletillas with guitar and dancing, and how to apply them to a fiesta setting. Tangos is one of the less challenging styles of flamenco to sing.
